Default Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth Demo is out!

Square Enix released the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo! Run, don't walk to try it out! Rebirth is the second part of the final fantasy VII remake. The demo will be two parts, the second part to be released later with an update. The first part is available now! You can find it in the PlayStation store!

Playstation's State of Play went into a lot of detail about what to expect in Rebirth. It has a lot of spoilers though so check it out if you want to see thing like maps, minigames, the skill tree, and all the lovely composed songs we will see in the game.

    Per Square Enix's website:

The “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” demo features an extended flashback section, as Cloud Strife recalls an earlier mission in his career as a SOLDIER – “the Nibelheim incident.” This mission takes place five years ago prior to the setting of the game. Take control of a younger version of main protagonist Cloud Strife and the legendary Sephiroth as the two SOLDIER heroes investigate the sudden appearance of monsters in the mountains above Cloud’s hometown. When a dark truth comes to light, the course of their lives and the fate of the planet will change forever.

After players complete the “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” content, the demo will receive an update on February 21, opening another playable section entitled “Dawn of a New Era in Junon.” In this special preview made specifically for the demo, explore a small piece of the massive in-game world around the harbor town of Junon. The Junon area featured in this demo has been altered to make the content more compact, so progress cannot be carried over to the full game. However, fans and newcomers will get a chance to experience new forms of exploration, new synergy attacks and the powerful character bonds expressed through thrilling combat.
If you have a save from the demo you will receive an in game Kupo Charm and Survival set in the full game and will be able to also skip over the Nibelheim parts without issue.

I am not sure how, but the graphics are even better than the first part of the remake.

Well this is on PS5 where Remake was PS4.

I have actually seen talk online about the graphics not being that good in Rebirth. I can see what they are talking about. They are nice, but definitely look more like prior gen graphics than current gen. And some things just look super weird, like the sandwich Cloud eats or the fire around Sephiroth. Could have been pulled from PS2 days. It could just be some wonky stuff in a demo. But the comparison is obvious after playing FFXVI which is visually stunning.

I liked the demo. It really captured the feeling of the original flashback scene. I hope this is the game's opening tutorial section, because I felt it did drag on a bit. The characters are written excellently. From Cloud's wide-eyed admiration of Sephiroth to Seph's cool confidence to Tifa's excitement. The adaptation of the original music was also very cool.

The combat was fine. Basically the same as Remake with the new dual techs. It is a bit annoying to go back to circle for dodge after getting used to R1 in FFXVI. I also am appreciating the fast paced flow of XVI's combat all the more. Rebirth is a little less fluid. Overall, I had fun with it. The piano mini game was fun, and hard!
