This one is less a fact and more of a possibility. One of the enduring mysteries in FFIV was wondering why Kluya, Cecil's father, had his holy power and spirit in Mt. Ordeals along with how Tellah managed to learn Meteor there as well, and finally, why the Lunar Whale is located near the town. The 3D Remake may have given us the information needed, but interestingly enough, it may have also confirmed that some of the information from the Settei Shiryo-hen guide book may still be canon, though retconned a bit.

In the book, the origins of Mysidia are stated that it was founded by a powerful Sage named Minwu who had discovered and mastered all the spells known and began to teach people how to use magic as well. The city formed around his teachings. But eventually, the Sage learned humanity was using the power of magic recklessly, so they sealed all the most dangerous spells away before disappearing. None of this is ever really talked about within IV, so for awhile, this was considered non-canon.

The 3D remake adds more scenarios, a major one being the past of both Golbez and Cecil. Here, we are finally introduced to their parents and get to meet Kluya. In the added sceanrio, Kluya is trying his best to help move humanity along their evolution by teaching them how to make airships, he built the Devil's Road for them, and most importantly, he teaches them how to use magic. Much like the non-canon guide though, Kluya discovers the magic is being used for evil and so he begins to stop teaching people some of the spells and speaks out against the ones who still use it for wrong. He is then killed by his detractors. All of this implies a few things:

  • Kluya came to the Blue Planet using the Lunar Whale and touched down near Mysidia.
  • Because his peaceful followers likely knew he hailed from the region, this is why his grave is located at Mt. Ordeals.
  • Likewise, since he was alarmed by the misuse of magic, he may have sealed Meteor at this mountain so it wouldn't be abused.
  • And the biggest stretch is that he may have been the founder of Mysidia, or at the very least, be the reason it's the city of magic in FFIV.
