In FFIX, the "Nova Dragon" Kuja rides is actually meant to be Shinryu, I am not sure why it was translated.
It's something that I missed that - they can both be taken to mean "New Dragon" (though I don't know if that was the point).
It never clicked for me, that Nova Dragon was Final Fantasy IX's take on Shinryu, which would make sense, due to FFIX's place as the "Nostalgia Final Fantasy".
