Can't trust the lefties...
Something amusing I discovered recently, but researching some stuff for one of the trivia threads I have going reminded me about the fact the earlier FFs actually had a very minor mechanic for weapons based on which hand is their dominant hand. Now the most amusing aspect of this mechanic is that there is a characteristic that seems to be running through all the lefties in the series. Basically all of them are a bit shifty in some way and are prone to betrayal.
Notable lefties in the series:
Leon, Leila, and Scott from FFII
Kain, Palom, and Golbez from FFIV
Sephiroth from FFVII
Apparently, Japan views left handedness negatively and see using your left hand for anything as being poor manners. But I do think it's funny how many antagonistic characters share the trait with Scott being the sole outlier among the group.
The other funky thing I learned is that FFIII apparently has a weird XP thing going on with what weapon you place in a characters hand. Basically you can choose what their dominant hand can be by always placing a weapon in one hand and very slowly (like every 34 battles) the hand will gain a level and be better with a weapon in use. So I thought that was neat.

I saw the title to this thread and thought, "Uh oh, someone's getting political on EOFF." Kidding! xD
But this makes me wonder which characters Square would have made left-handed had they continued that mechanic past Final Fantasy IV
. I think Cloud would be a really interesting choice. Maybe Balthier and Shadow too.

Lol, yeah I guess the title does sound a bit off.

Interestingly enough, Odin is left handed, but only in his FFVI incarnation. Likewise, the Yojimbo enemy (not the summon) is also left handed, but only the FFV and XV versions of them.
