Dreams of another Dissidia...

Been thinking about this game lately, and apparently so have the bots if the Who's Online segment is being read right. Anyway, I had a blast with this small franchise from the original on the PSP to the mobile one that was more RPG. So the question is, would you want to see this franchise return? And if so, what would you like it to be?

Guess I'll get this going then.

For the most part, I would prefer the series to return to the 1v1 roots of the original, just on stronger hardware so we can get a more generous roster. The PSP entries still had a lot of room to grow, but more importantly, it was a fairly fun and distinct fighting game that really had the potential to hit Smash Bros levels of player competition if SE had simply translated the original formula to a more user-friendly platform. The biggest issue with Dissidia arcade is that it was trying too hard to get into the competitive gamer scene and it sort of threw the baby out with the bathwater by changing the formula too much to appeal to that crowd. Not helping was the fact the story of the original Dissidia, while wacky as hell, was better thought out than whatever the arcade was trying to do.

I would rebalance it though, which is another reason stronger hardware would be appreciated since they could add patches. Equipment would definitely need to be rebalanced to make it work in competitive scenes but I would also switch out how magic works because like the mainline series, melee fighters have some annoying advantages over mage characters. I would love the Arcade roster to be playable from the beginning, but of course would love to see more additions as the game grew.

My second choice would be to simply redo the mobile game into a more traditional, less gatcha, RPG and keep the plotline of that game, because the narrative actually touched on topics and scenarios players were really hoping the original Dissidia would do but managed to sidestep it with its amnesia plotline.
