Umm from what I hear the non sony brand memory cards tend to be incredibly bad and tend to lose data a lot of the time. I have yet to have it happen to me, but that's what I hear.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of bad things about the memory cards that aren't Sony brand. I've used the same Sony PS1 card for about two years, and I've never had any problems with it. It doesn't have very much space, but I think it's worth it because it's reliable. They're about $15 on Amazon.com, I believe... maybe you should buy one of those and make copies of the files you really care about, so that next time your old card gets wiped out, you'll still have the stuff you want.

This is what I have. Good luck.

It's possible some of the circuitry has become, ahem, screwed inside. In which case, buying a new card would be the cheapest option. Also, you could try cleaning out the contacts on you card, and the port in your PS1, as they may have become clogged with dust.

I've experienced that problem before, with Final Fantasy VII. I screamed at the time.

Buy a new one - it will save you months of hassle and anger.

Well, I ditched it and borrowed my friends cool PS1 Memory card by Sony. Works great.

But I have a different problem.
So I plug my controller in (Dual Shock) and then when playing FF8, the X button doesn't work! It works on my friends Playstation I think, but not mine! Only the control pads and the rest but ot X! X is essential! I think its the controller, someone please help me!
