Nope, I think you'll find that they are called "Dinglberry" and not "Dinglebarry" although Dinglberry is most likely short for "Dingleberry" And just why WOULD Square feel stupid? This is the first time a Tonberry-type monster has appeared in FF, so obviously they were originally called Dingleberries.
I see where his muchachoness is coming from by saying that square is embaressed. Around here if you were seen holding a dingleberry you'd be getting very wierd looks from people and no one would want to come near you.
Yeah. Should be Tonberry.
a dingleberry is a turd, is it not?

Well, then, on to a more mature discussion...
Were you playing this on a ROM? If you were, then the name 'Dinglberry' was probably a fan translation. The tonberry-like creatures weren't called Tonberries until FF7 - in FF6 they were Pugs.
ARGUMENT FROM GUITAR MASTERY
(1) Eric Clapton is God.
(2) Therefore, God exists.
In many ways, official translations aren't always more accurate than fan translations. FFV is actually a pretty good example of such.
