You're allowed to nominate yourself in two categories, but it's not manditory.

If a member is nominated for a specific award by two or more people, they will be in the running for the actual award. This is like the caucus before the elections... or whatever. It's more like a caucus race from Alice in Wonderland, or even a cactus. It's definately not a citrus, though.

i never understood why we have ciddies for both best male and best female PLUS best member overall. It would seem that the best member would have to be either the best male or the best female. Maybe the ciddies are for the members who are best at being male or female, rather than the best members who happen to be of each sex.

More winners? =P But yeah, I can't really predict if the overall Best Member will be male or female, so y'no. I don't think anyone has ever won both awards, though...
