Know of any good free web servers?

hey everyone.....I just wanted to see if anyone knows of any good free web servers. I only know of Geocities, Netscape, and Angelfire. Out of those 3 Angelfire is the best. Geocities is ok, and Netscape it pityful. So if ya know of any good ones (the best one) please start posting! Oh and if you have a website post your address if ya don't mind k.

Geocities,angelfire and other "so called free" hosters are just all a bunch of crap.

Try lycos (tripod)

and if you have a good connection to the net ( cable or DSL (aDSL will also do) you might concider running apache off your home machine ( http://www.apache.org )


Concider this : free hosts don't exist,Free don't last long. They usually screw you over

Lycos.co.uk, but I'd highly suggest springing for a cheap server. You can get one for under $40 a year...

Better than its U.S. counterpart, because of the crappy php and inferior phpMyAdmin, hey, better than nothing, 50mb of space and a couple hundred mb of bandwidth a month. But yeah, paid is soooo much better.

I assume paid servers are ad free? If they're that cheap, I might move off of angelfire. If they have ads, I really have no incentive. Free servers are only tolerable with ads because they're free.

Good hosts don't make you run ads. There are a lot of shysters out there though. Lots of shady webhosts. Good to do tons of research before picking one if you plan to pay. I looked at about a hundred hosts before I picked the one I paid for. www.lunarpages.com

Thanks Unne. I wouldn't exactly know what the perks and downfalls of all the different hosts are, but I know your site is pretty fast and stable (no white screens of death). I'll see about this Lunar.

Lunarpages isn't the host I use for my FF1 site, it's what I use for chwombat.net which so far has nothing on it but some pictures of origami and junk.
