    HTML code...

    Y'know what'd be really handy on this site? A glossary or guide to the basic HTML code tags. I know next to nothing about programming, so I can't do any special formatting or punctuation, such as umlauts, circumflexes, subscript, superscript, or anything else. For example, every time I write 'Kishi's full name, I have to copy and paste.

    A simple instruction manual would be really handy for those of us who are unfamiliar with the HTML tags.

    I guess that would be easy enough for the simple HTML tags, but vB Code mostly suffices for that. It's the more complex commands that you seem to be looking for, and I guess that would require quite a bit of work (e.g. this page on ampersand-type commands).

    Anything other than ampersand commands could be added to the vB Code by an admin. I think it's quite easy to add that sort of thing from what I remember.

    As long as you remember the names of the accents, it's not a problem.

    Personally, I use alt + numpad to do my accents; 'Kishi's û is alt+0251, é is alt+0233, etc., but that's a habit I formed from going to boards where HTML is disabled. Here, you can use ampersand + letter + accent type + semicolon.

    é gives you é, â gives you â, ö gives ö, and 'kishi's û is û.

    Edit: Also try [ u^] without the space in it.
    Testing: [u^]

    That [u^ ] thing is mighty nifty, thanks Bleys.

    The only alt things I know are é (0233), ß (0223) and ü (129). But it's generally pretty easy to find the other ones just by trial and error. =P

    As for HTML, there are huge amounts of sites, but I do think it would be nifty to have something here with the HTML that you would be more likely to include in posts, such as
  5. and of course the more basic , , and so forth. I think I've managed to figure out everything I know just by looking at HTML done on other sites/posts etc, though I guess not everyone here can learn by casually clicking on 'edit/delete' for someone else's post >_>;;

    Any other special characters that will be used here often enough to warrant their own replacement variable?

    (I'd prefer to only add the ones that will be used a lot, since I have to add each one in three times)

    [evaile="Hah!"]Perhaps the € sign?

    Although I can type that on my keyboard, as well as various other symbols like ÁÉÍÓÚáéíóú or ¦ instead of | - might be more I don't know of All with the use of the Alt-GR key, which I believe is missing from US Keyboard layouts [/evaile]

    Dude! =D Thanks, clout.

    ...kinda weird how the | on my keyboard does a ¦ and vice versa, though.

    heh, and there was me doing it by holding Ctrl+Alt and typing the buttons to do it. That works on ALL keyboards.

    Spat: can you be more specific? That sounds useful, but I can't make it work. Tried CTRL+ALT+e+^ and got nothing, for instance.

    doesn't work for me, so there goes your 'all keyboards' theory.

    (I've got an American keyboard)

    Y'no what would be neat? If Ryukishi was auto-filtered into Ryûkishi.

    Might wanna make that Ryuukishi that auto-converts, to save RyuKishi getting suckered into it a few times. Or just make it case sensitive, I guess.
