well to get the key item you need to capture 10 of each creature sans defeat all the original, species and area monsters and then the ultimate monster. the best way to do this is capture 10 of each monster in each area. but doing all this you will get all of the items anyway.
Besaid: Dingo, Condor, Water flan
Kilika: Dinoix, killer bee, Yellow element, Ragora
Mi'ihen highroad: Mi'ihen fang, Ipiria, floating eye, white element, raldo, vouire, bomb, dual horn
Mushroom rock road: Raptor, Gandarewa, thunder flan, red element, lamashtu, funguar, gardua
Djose road: garm, simurgh, bite bug, snow flan, bunyip, basilisk, ochu,
Thunder plains: mesuline, aerouge, buer, gold element, kusariqqu, larve, iron giant, Qactuar
Macalania: snow wolf, iguion, wasp, evil eye, ice flan, blue element, murussu, mafdet, xiphos, chimera
Bikanel: sand wolf, alcyone, mushussu, zu, sand worm, cactuar
calm lands: skoll, nebiros, flame flan, shred, anacondaur, ogre, coeurl, chimera brain, malbro
Cavern of stolen Fayth: yowie, imp, dark element, Nidhogg, thorn, valaha, epaaj, ghost, tonberry
Mt. Gagazet: bandersnacth, ahriman, dark flan, grenade, grat, grendel, bashura, mandroga, behemoth, splasher, achelous, maelspike
sin: exoray, wraith, gemini, gemini, demonolith, great malbro, barbatos, adamantoise, behemoth king
omega dungeon: zaurus, floating death, black element, halma, puroboros, spirit, machea, master coeurl, master tonberry, varuna.

that item is Yuna's legendary weapon the Nirvana
no!!! nirvana is in the chest. the key item is Mark of Conquest. there is no point to it, but it shows that u captured 10 of everythn and beat nemesis
