Default Audio problem in-battle in PC version. Help??

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out with a problem I am having. I have FF 7 running on my PC, and everything is working fine except the in-battle audio sounds. The music is there, but the sound effects are missing. If you have any ideas, please post them. Thanks!!

With my version, the sound effects usually work, but bug out from time to time. For example, part of the summon sound effects might not work one time, but will another.

What operating system are you using, and what are the MIDI drivers and MIDI Data that you are using?

I am running XP. Here is the saved text file from the DirectX diagnostic I ran. All tests were passed. I will have to check on which MIDI drivers I am running (I am at work right now, and the question is regarding my home system). I do know that I've tried every combination in the FF7 configure function. All other sound weems to be working fine except the battle sound effects. Also, the noises when I collect items and gil after the battle are not playing. Thanks for taking the time to help, I do appreciate it!

And it's set properly in FF7 Config? Hm... Do you have the latest drivers? (Well, you never know...)

And you got it working in XP. Compatibility mode, I assume?
*Smack!* I don't think I tried that! No wonder it won't start!
