    Default Avatars

    Just some thoughts for avatars:

    - Allow for images up to 80x80, not disgustingly big, but enough to allow for some more detail
    - Allow for remote linking of images, so that the server isn't holding tonnes of custom avatars for everyone
    - Support .PNG format images, a great lossless compression on the 24-bit .BMP format.

    What do you think?

    -Big = ugly.
-It's very hard / slow / impossible for the MB to check the image size of an image that's remotely linked. Not to mention problems like people trying to link Tripod images and getting "YOU CAN'T LINK HERE' graphics instead, and slow servers slowing the whole MB down by lagging the heck out of browsers. I don't think the server minds hosting avatars for people.
    -I like png's.

Avatars that are random sizes look unorganized and messy and if you go to 80 x80, someone will want it to go up to 100 x100 and so on and then before you know it you might as well be posting at FG. Simple and neat is better.

-I'd have to agree with the avatar sizes, big isn't nice at a 'tidy' forum like this one. If there was an avatar increase I'd say go no higher than 70 px.
    -Broken links galore!
    -I don't see why not.

I will do this. Nothing in my life matters except this. No moment in my life exists except this moment. I am born in this moment, and if I fail, I will die in this moment.

Teach me how to add .png support, and I will, but for now, you might as well say "Hey, why don't you add full support for Windows applications under Linux? That would be a great idea!"

    1. No.
    2. No.
    3. Yes.

Although I really don't care on the third one since I'll always have an animated gif for my avatar.

PNG for avatars is enabled since vb 2.2.7. My current avatar is in PNG format.

Er...yeah, I meant to say that I'd already done the .png thing. That's me, always on the ball.

I'd personally like bigger avatars better. But oh well, seems like it will never happen.=p *throws his worthless few cents in*
