I like to rip names from mythology...i.e., the dark chaotic god in tGA used to be called just "Chaos" 'till I came around, but I wanted to give him a proper name, so I pulled up "Mardûk", which is the name of an ancient god from Asia Minor--The Mad Arab who wrote the Necronomicon worshipped Mardûk. Same with Leon Alcibiates--Alcibiates was a figure from greek mythology, who was famous for being Lysander's enemy. (There's also a Lysander in tGA)

Best bet is to make characters with a first name and a last name, and take each name from a different source, just ensuring that the character concept is different from both of the characters you took the name from in order to avoid copyright issues.
