Thread: slap me if im wrong *SPOILERS*

Default slap me if im wrong

In the ending when Yuna stood up after she fell through Tidus, she said "arigato". Doesn't that mean thanks and not I love you? Or does it mean both? I thought it was aishetiu or something like that. Anyways laugh at me if you want, I don't speak Japanese.

Arigato is thank you. Maybe she was thanking him for all he'd done for her? Especially knowing that he would cease to be? I dunno. And yes, your Japanese is accurate, all of it.

    Default Thank You

Yeah, in the Japanese version, she does say thank you. Do you think "thank you" sounds better or "I love you". Sometimes I think I Love You is just a bit too cheesy... anyone have a different opinion?:mog:

It just doesn't make since how they translated arigato into 'I love you'... what does she have to be thankful for? That she fell right through him. It does sound less cheesy, but 'I love you' just fits in better because she never professed her love to him through the whole game.

I haven't heard the japanese version of that bit, but definately "I love you" is better, I mean to me it just fitted perfectly there it summed up her feelings and it just made the end so romantic

I mean "thank you"..nah...that wouldn't have made the ending so beautiful to me ^^

Me too. I actually would have prefered 'thank you', but either way the emotion would have remained. Beautiful scene, no matter what was said.
