Do you need lv. up bonuses for 9999HP?

Do any characters need the HP bonuses from espers to reach 9999 HP? Specifically i want to know about Terra, because i'm maxing her stats and i don't know if i need to use a level up bonus on HP or if I can continue pumping magic attack and vigor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, not that I remember. Everyone ends up with 9999hp naturally. I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive. I'm surs someone else knows for sure.

I've always used those espers just incase. I always end up with 9999 hp around level 90.

Thanks for the advice, but i need to know if i can reach 9999HP without the level-up bonuses. I'm stat maxing right now and i don't want to use bonuses on something that will max itself out eventually. I want to raise stamina, magic attack, vigor, and speed as much as possible, but i also want 9999HP. I only get about 85 level up bonuses and I don't want to waste any by useing them on a stat that will max itself out naturally. Thanks for the advice though, I really do appreciate it

    They will NOT.

My first FFVI game was on the cart back in the good 'ol 90s, and my main party consisted of Shadow, Strago, Gogo, and Setzer. Shadow and Setzer had 9999 HP, but Gogo and Strago didn't, and they were all level 99.

So you MUST use the espers, unless this has been corrected int the PSX version.

Do you remember if Shadow and Setzer used HP bonuses? Or is it just that physical fighters reach 9999HP and magic users don't? I'm pretty sure I'll have to use the HP bonuses now, but I don't want to so I'm trying to be absolutely sure. Thanks for the help, even though it doesn't point to the outcome I wanted

Being that that was about five years ago, no. I do not remember, but I'm inclined to believe I did.

Yes they need the bonuses. Once Locke reached level 99 with HP+50% bonus and he still didn't make it to 9999 HP. I guess I shouldn't have leveled him up so much without having Bahamut. Anyways I have another game with all characters at 9999 HP except Umaro and Gogo. I sure learned my lesson. HAHA.

Terra needs to equip bahamut at level 93 and not unequip it until lv. 99. I didn't give her a single HP bonus at any point before that. The last six levels are what is required. The other characters are probally the same or really close to that.

The whole thing about haveing 9999 HP isn't really to provide a significant advantage, it is just kinda a status thing. Your characters look so weak and unprofessional when they have less then maximum HP. And when they come so close naturally, it doesn't hurt to give them that little extra boost.

I read somewhere that just about everyone will have 9999 HP as long as they have Bahamutt when they turn level 50.

Never tried it for myself, though.

Were you playing Anthology or the FF3 SNES cartridge? I was playing the cartridge and they always needed Bahamut for more than 6 level ups.

I was playing the emulator, so it was the SNES version. I think it's important to note that it was the LAST six level ups. The 50% bonus is worth more when you gain more HP per level. 6 levels early on won't do it, but I made sure first hand that the last 6 would.
