Thread: Gosh, FF1 is SO hard!!!

Default Gosh, FF1 is SO hard!!!

everything is expensive, i barely can afford 1 spell... There is no way to revive in the beginning (except the church), Magic there seems VERY limited, with that MP system you only can use spells a few time...
every time that i reach a new area, the monster there are more powerful than your party...
There is no other ability than magic, that piss me off!
    (Thief don't have Steal...)
You nedd to PAY to save the game...

a very difficlt indeed, i'm having a hard time with it

You've been spoiled. FF1 is probably the greatest game. Once you get past the first 3-4 towns, making money is EASY! The game itself, if you keep leveling between dungeons and update equipment enough, its not TOO hard. And why should there be other abilities, ok, the thief i understand should be able to steal, but this is obviously your first time playing..

FF1 SPOILER When you change classes/upgrade characters. The thief turns into Ninja without the throw ability, but he can use basic black magics.

And think when it was made... in the 80's for NES. Not the most advanced system, or able to have all those extra skills.

Yup. I've still got my old FF1 cart. Still, I forgot just how hard this game is. I'm stuck at the bleeding Marsh Cave. THE BLEEDING MARSH CAVE!!!

*cries* Why am I only level 9!? WHY!?

    Xu,

Are you playing in easy mode or normal mode? Everything is a lot cheaper and leveling up is much faster in easy mode. Plus your party gets a lot more spells for each spell level.

Having played through the game twice, once in each mode, I found it much more enjoyable in easy mode. But the nice thing about the option is it allows each individual player to choose their own prefered level of difficulty.

Well thats the problem i'd say. I don't recommend that party for your first time through the game. Infact, any party without a fighter will be a lot more difficult.

Which is probably why I'm having all this trouble. I replaced my usual fighter with a Red Mage, making my party RM, Thief, Black Belt, BM.

I find quite easy playing on easy mode with a party of a Fi/BB/RM/WM or Fi/Th/WM/BM in that order. First timers should start on easy with at least on Fighter. Normal mode and no Fighter partys are for experinced players.

heh, if ya want a challenge go 4x WM or Theif, better yet, try to the solo parties*.

    * solo theif and wm are EXTREMELY boring after about 5 minutes. Don't try if you have a life
