Thread: "Recognized Member"?

    "Recognized Member"?

i've looked through the FAQ and can't seem to find anything about this award/status/thingy. Does it represent a particular recognition, or is it simply a "we think you rock; have a bag of money" sort of gig? i must know! i cannot rest until i know! But it's 2 in the morning here, so i doubt that'll stand.

Anyway, what's being a recognized member all about?

Recognized Members are pretty much people who have helped out the forums in some way. And not just once, but many times. Yeah.

It's getting harder to get as time goes on, because we don't want to make it less special by giving it out to too many people.

When I retire, I'm going back to regular member, not recognized, for that very reason.

I'm glad to hear this. I disapprove of making 50 people RM. *cough* Fool's Gold *cough*

Different reasons, chief. I don't have a *problem* with being a recognized member, I just don't want there to be too many of them, so I'm not taking up a slot.

As a matter of fact, I'd like to see a cap on the number of RMs who can be active at one time--that way, we'd have to de-RM people like Acmlm who never come around anymore in order to bump someone else up. And of course, that would wind up eventually nixing former mods as RMs, so I think it'd be an unpopular notion that I wouldn't be able to push through staff.

"quit" and "resign" have connotations of "screw you guys, I'm out of here." I don't plan on ever leaving like that. I'm not planning on staying on staff FOREVER, though. I think "retire" gets the idea across--an amicable departure, not someone getting fed up with whatever and storming off in a huff, like some former staffers whom I don't care to name.

But then again, that makes EoFF seem like a big staircase.

We call it Snakes & Ladders over here

And I have no problem with limiting the number of RMs either, not sure where Bleys got that idea

Yes, because all of my ideas are stolen. I've never had an original idea, EVER.

It's "Shutes and Ladders," dammit. What kind of person slides down a snake?

Snakes and ladders. I know because I've seen the board with snakes and ladders.
