I was reading about what you said about Shadow and Relm's relationship.
I've found 2 more of these relationships!... well, sort of
Just look at this pic... the stoned Queen in the submerged castle / Celes, and Duncan / Banon.
he he he were they short on sprites, or what?
And they recycle monsters over and over again. A lot of sprite-based games do that.
There are about four colour swaps of the soldier sprite, too. It's not really that uncommon in sprite-based games, as TheAbominatrix already pointed out.
And technically, the Queen in the underground castle looks like Maria, not Celes =P
