Black Mage will transform into Chaos, of course. By the time the plot reaches that point, everyone who is still reading will be quite used to Bri's lame departures from the game's plot anyway.

Let's face it, the 8-Bit crew wouldn't be able to defeat Chaos. There'll probably be a 'hilarious' replacement, like the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, or something of the sort.

I actually asked him about Chaos a while ago. Here is his reply,

My comic is not the game :P The two share only a few graphics, some place
names, and the same generic outlien. All the details are different.

Guess we'll find out when the time comes. But I think I've made no secret
that in my comic Chaos is his own entity and no one will "become" him.

Probably. We're getting closer to the first fiend every day. Some people
worry about me taking too long, but you have to remember that most of the
FF1 gameplay is taken up with random battles. If I did that in comic form
it'd get really boring really fast. So I have to fill up time with
silliness. Once we start getting to the Fiends, things should pick up a
bit.
