36" flat screens are really nice. But seriously nowadays flat screens aren't very expensive, so if you can afford it it would be nice, especially if you're hurting for space.
TFT monitors all the way...CRTs are so last century.

CRT for me only because I'm cheap and can't afford/need an expensive monitor
LCDs are also nicer for anime watching, due to the slower time it takes for pixels to change colour compared to a CRT/TFT, but then that's not so good for heavy gaming
