    Default I Prefer Horses With 4 Legs That Jump Over Fences

    For anyone who doesn't know, or hasn't guessed I am completely computer illiterate which leads me to my next Help Forum question...

    ...So I done a virus scan a couple of weeks back and found 4 infected files, AVG managed to cure 3 of them but the forth had to be quarinteened and removed.

    Since then I have been getting a message periodically about a trojan horse file that can be removed by AVG but every time I run it, it finds nothing.

    Is there anything I can do??

    Why not just delete the file through windows explorer or DOS?

    Right click System Volume Information > Properties > Security > Add. Find/Enter your username and add it and then tick Full Control, then click OK. You should be able to browse the folder normally now, and delete what you need to in there I think it's only system restore points in there, but I'm not sure since I always turn that feature off, waste of space for me It's up to you if you want to remove your full access flag afterwards when you've finished too

    Remember to look through each existing entry and remove any "Deny" entries for groups you belong to. (Deny entries in the ACL take precedence over Allow entries)

    Or better yet, just uncheck every deny entry, period, since you're going to delete the file anyways.

    so after much picking of crono_logical's brains (thanks man) we've found the folder but access is still denied, there's no security tab in the properties bit of the folder and it won't let me in.

    I'm trying to avoid system restore as it would have to go back about a month.

    I've finally got a security tab by starting it in safe mode and although I gave myself full access it still wouldn't let me in.

    Could the virus be the thing thats stopping me??

    Ah, I forgot a step in the directions. It should read "C: -> properties -> <b>disc cleaning</b> -> uncheck ..."

    Windows won't let you modify it on purpose, because modifying these folders = ing up your PC if you need to use the restore tool.

    And then there is Death

    ...what if it doesn't work and I do have to use restore??

    Here's a visual breakdown. Of course, my menus and texts are in French.

    Right click on c: -> properties, you arrive here:
    <img src="http://legardinia.free.fr/screen1.jpg">

    Now click on the button called "disk cleaning" (where "nettoyage du disque" is on mine), after it scanned your hd, you'll arrive to this screen:
    <img src="http://legardinia.free.fr/screen2.jpg">

    First uncheck all boxes in that screen. Now click on the "other options" tab (where "autres options" is on mine), you'll arrive to this screen:
    <img src="http://legardinia.free.fr/screen3.jpg">

    Click on "clean" ("nettoyer") in the "system restore" ("restauration du systeme") area. When asked to confirm, click on yes, then when you're back to the third screen, click on ok, then yes.

    And then there is Death
