Vigor and Stamina: What do they do?

Does anyone know what vigor and stamina do? I've never figured this out. The other stats are pretty obvious, but I don't know exactly what these 2 stats affect.

I'm pretty sure Vigor has to do with Strength. The higher your vigor, the stronger your attacks. Hyper Wrist adds to your vigor, and your attacks become stronger. See?

I think Stamina has to do with HP, and how high your HP will go at the next level up.

Ok so vigor and strength are the same thing. I suppose that stamina isn't extremely important then, since you can use espers to boost HP. As long as each character has 9999 HP at level 99, it's all good

True, but if you use an esper to boost your Stamina rather than your HP, you don't have to have the esper equipped at as many level ups as you would with Bahamut, thus letting you get two bonuses if you equip another esper at level up.

I think Stamina has to do with how often you survive attacks like Doom and Break, actually. If I remember correctly. I never bothered raising it much. I always focused mostly on Speed, Vigor, and Magic Power.

Yeah, Stamina is pretty much just for surviving instant death attacks, and it determines how much HP you gain/lose with Regen/Poison. I think it might also determine how long other status effects last, but I'm not sure. The Algorithms Guide by Terii Senshi has it.

This stuff is from the site Skye-chan cited.

    Stamina:

Stamina increases you chance of blocking most instant death attacks. (see
section 2.2 Hit Determination, step 5)

Stamina increases the amount of HP gained by Tintinabar (see section 5.17),
and Regen (see section 2.7 Status effects), as well as the damage done by poison (see
    section 2.7 Status Effects)

    Vigor:

Higher vigor increases damage done by physical attacks (see section 2.1
Damage calculation). Raising Vigor over 128 with relics and equipment, does
no more damage than having a Vigor of 128.

Monsters do not have individual Vigor stats, instead their vigor is randomly
determined at the beginning of combat as : [58..65]

    This is interesting...

    Evade%:

Evade% is supposed to increase the chance of dodging physical attacks, but due
to a bug in the game, Evade% has no effect, so don't bothering trying to
    increase it.

    MBlock%:

MBlock% increases the chance of dodging attacks (due to a bug in the game this
effects both magical and physical attacks)

    Blind Status:

Blind is supposed to make it harder to hit with physical attacks, but due to
the same bug that makes Evade useless, Blind does not decrease your chance to
hit with physical attacks. The only effect Blind has is that Strago can't
    learn new lores while blinded.

It would be nice if this stuff could be fixed with rom editing.

Those bugs are probably fixed in the PSX version.

I think they're also fixed in Version 1.1 of the SNES game, which is mostly distinguishable from Version 1.0 of the SNES game by the fact that the final boss doesn't have anything to steal in Version 1.1 .
