He always seemed to do more damage with the Dark swords, Dark Wave was very useful against large groups of weak enemies, and he looked cooler.
I guess the point is moot for about 75% of the game, tho.
Did anyone else like Cecil better as a Dark Knight?

Of course I like Cecil as a Dark Knight, even though he's weaker than the Paladin...

The *only* thing that Dark Knight Cecil has over Paladin Cecil is character design. He looks cooler, but is otherwise worse in every way.

before changing to wimpadin cecil looked cool,did cool attacks,had some sword magic.

I like the Dark Knight sprite, but other than that he sucked. He was crap against the undead, and as a Paladin he at least had some Cure spells to use when you had no other healers on your team. His 'attacks' were the same as when he was a DK... dude, he just swings his sword and there ya go. The Dark Wave or whatever was pretty much useless, too.
I agree with Garland and TheAbominatrix.
Dark Wave would've been good if it didn't use up an eighth of the Dark Knight's health. Since it does so, it sucks. And curative magic and being able to damage undead negates any other advantages the Dark Knight might have (which, for the record, are none whatsoever). So yes, the only reason I can possibly see to prefer the Dark Knight is his appearance, which is indeed genearlly cooler than that of the Paladin (at least in terms of sprites).
The Dark Knight *is* a cool concept, I have to admit. But he pales in comparison to the Paladin in terms of battle effectiveness. And the Mount Ordeals scene was cooler than the concept of the Dark Knight, anyway.
I like him better for his graphics. Also another factor that makes me like him better is because of the fact that you have him for a little while. It just makes me yearn for him to be in my party. It's not everyday you have a completely armored FF character. Most characters whose sprites have armor usually lack a helmet. Not Cecil. He comes ready with that cool dark helmet of his.
Kain had a helmet too, and a really cool helmet.

I liked Kain's sprite much better than Cecil's as a Dark Knight, but I agree, the only thing DK Cecil had over Paladin Cecil is the look. Damn hippie.
yeh well i really didnt like cecil thatmuch but yeh. he did look cooler as a black knight. i think the main character should have been KAIN!! Kain rulz.

DK Cecil was cooler. Abilities have no real relevance in FF, since you can win with just about anything anyway.
You know what.... I think I would have looked better with black hair or at least a helmet when I became a Paladin. But NO. The designers said Black was out and that crazy White/Rainbow color was in. Shesh. If I would have seen it coming before I would have stayed a Dark Knight. At least then I could keep myself a mystery.... and the whole evil knight stuff was cool.
