Grin Funny things your family/friends have said about FF

What things have people you know said or misunderstood about Final Fantasy, which you've found really funny?

Yesterday I had the forums open and my mum was in my room, she looked at the screen and at the banner (which had been Christmassied up with the hat on Sephiroth, etc) and said "Did you put the hat on that girl?"

I was like, "Who are you talking about?" and then she looked at the picture again and said, "Oh is it a girl..?" and I was like, no, that's Sephiroth he's a bad guy. Then I explained that some of the FF baddies do look a little feminine ^_^

And I drew a picture of Vivi with some moogles once... I showed it to some guys in my tutor at college and they said, "why did you draw flying pigs?".

I also made a website for an assignment once with some animated chocobos, and one of my guy friends said, "You're obsessed with rubber duckies". xD

So has anything like this happened to you, that's amused you?

My mother once walked in on me playing FFVII, and seemed to think that Cloud was a girl (but that wasn't when he was in drag, that was just from the status portrait)

And in FFIX my little cousin refused to accept that the Moogles weren't actually "White guinea pigs". Although fair enough, as guinea pigs sure do rule.

I was having my mom and dad watch "The Spring" and and they ruled it off as a sex scene. So they walked off thinking they went under water to get naughty. They never saw the rest of it so they didn't know.

One time this guy asked me, "Why do they call it 'Final' Fantasy if they keep making new games? That doesn't sound final to me!"

I decided that it was the funniest and most clever thing I had ever heard anyone say!

On Kawaii's note, I, myself have had the same complaint... Coming from... Myself... I just think it's a bit redundant to name each one Final Fantasy... But alas... I came to a conclusion that should satisfy my retentive nature...

I look at it in the way that each, "Final Fantasy", is the "Final Fantasy" for that particular setting... It's like, Square developed multiple dimensions and universes, (all of them possessing a Cid strangely), and set a "Final Fantasy" in each... So while they call them Final Fantasy 1-12 and such, the number referrs to the corresponding universe/dimension... It's a vague explanation, but it's all my tiny little brain can think of...
-I was just curious... Why am I so good? (On that note: It's only arrogance if you're NOT actually that damn good... But it just so happens that I AM that damn good... So... Nyah...)

Well, they could be all on the same world, except seperated by thousands of years.

But each game is so radically different... In some ways. Such as magic... In the first few games, they mooched magic off crystals and gems... In the later games it turned into a unified planetary entity/spirit, like Gaia and the lifestream... Sorry to break it to you, but they're not the same universe... Not even thousands, hell millions of years apart could magic crystals turn into a unified planetary energy source. So... Nyah...

"Why does that girl have an open shirt?" ~ My friend krista as she saw Tidus.

I still laugh thinking about it. So true...

My cousin thought that Final Fantasy II and onwards were all direct sequels to Final Fantasy I.

No. The first game was called Final Fantasy because Square was on the verge of bankruptcy in '87 and Mr. Sakaguchi figured it would be the last game he'd ever have a hand in. He didn't imagine that it would ever become popular enough to spawn a series of sequels.

    Old news.

Says who? It could happen in a fantasy world. Unless, of course, you happen to have a PhD in Interdimensional Crystallography and its Effect on Role-Playing Video Game Worlds, in which case I bow to your superior intellect.

Every time my sister comes across me battling in FFX, she says, "Why do they take turns and only hit them one time like that when they fight? That's so stupid." And I laugh because she's right. Why DO they fight like that?
