Default Check out the difference!

Here is the English translation of Simple and Clean straight from Utada Hikaru :

No matter what the time
I’m just alone
Destiny forgotten,
Even though I kept going.
Inside of the sudden light I awaken
In the middle of the night

Quietly,
Stand in the exit way,
And, in the pitch-black, take the light

And about the recent promises,
Is it just that I’m so anxious?
A wish that’s wanting to be said, but shall be repressed
I’ll introduce my family,
You’ll surely get along well

No matter what the time
We'll always be together
No matter what the time
Because you’re by my side
The light known as "you" finds me,
In the middle of the night

Enter a noisy street
And put on the mask of destiny.

Thinking too much about the future.
Stopping things that have no meaning.
Today I’ll eat delicious things.
The future is always before us,
Even I don’t know it.

It’s not necessary to go right to the end,
Just keep going.
It’s okay if the scenes
Go on one by one.
The light known as "you"
reflects my scenario

Let’s talk more,
And about the tomorrow that’s before your very eyes.
Turn off the television,
And look only at me.

No matter how well we’re doing,
I don’t believe in us completely.
But at those sort of times,
Because you’re by my side,
The light known as "you" finds me,
In the middle of the night.

Let’s talk more,
And about the tomorrow that’s before your very eyes.
Turn off the television,
And look only at me.

Let’s talk more,
And about the tomorrow that’s before your very eyes.
Turn off the television,
And look only at me

And here is the actual english version:

You’re giving me too many things
Lately you’re all I need
You smiled at me and said,

Don’t get me wrong I love you
But does that mean I have to meet your father?
When we are older you’ll understand
What I meant when I said “No,
I don’t think life is quite that simple”

*When you walk away
You don’t hear me say please
Oh baby, don’t go
Simple and clean is the way that you’re making me feel tonight
It’s hard to let it go

The daily things that keep us all busy
Are confusing me
That’s when you came to me and said,

Wish I could prove I love you
But does that mean I have to walk on water?
When we are older you’ll understand
It’s enough when I say so
And maybe some things are that simple

Repeat*

**Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings the future doesn’t scare me at all
Nothings like before

Repeat*
Repeat**
Repeat**

I sorta feel ripped off >.<
Too big.

Well, both of them sound nice and have good words so I don't care. Some of the second one's words are touching, especially the part where it says:

"Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings the future doesn’t scare me at all
Nothing's like before"

I'm always moved when I hear those words while listening to Simple and Clean. That part is just so... emotional and it always reminds me of Sora's quest. But, that's just me.

I've always liked Hikari better seeing as how it's lyrics were actually relavent to the story's theme.

I kinda like the first one more...just seems to fit better with the game somehow..so i guess I'll have to agree with eternalshiva in that I do feel kinda ripped off

It's not quite the same, is it?

The English version sounds good in the game. The only problem I have with it is that instead of using the main theme song of the game in the chorus part, Utada Hikaru just sings stuff like "Please, oh baby!" But since I can understand the English lyrics better, they're having a bigger impact on me. And by the way, I was moved to tears when (SPOILER)watching the ending where Kairi walked to the secret place and thought about Sora, and I think the music and these lyrics had a lot to do with me getting moved:

The daily things that keep us all busy
Are confusing me
That's when you came to me and said,

Wish I could prove I love you
But does that mean I have to walk on water?

The lyrics to the english version actually made me feel something...it was the lyrics on a commercial that prompted me to buy it in the first place. They may not be relevent to the story, but they are beautiful.

That would be kinda cool but maybe it would be too repetitive. Maybe something from the same singer?

*blinks* I didn't even know the song before I bought the game so no, I didn't buy the game for the song. I was just discussing the difference in the translation considering it's the same singer in both English and Japanese. I just find it interesting that there is such a huge difference considering its her song, the meanings are different.
