Lets say WHMs get the most stress(and i mean fun in this sense) than other classes i fooled with. You will always be active in a battle unlike a black mage where u can sit back and occasionally cast a spell that may or may not turn the tide greatly. BLM=Lazy job to me XD

Well a RDM doesnt have alot of mp, so you cant heal urself over and over also with convert, there is prolly a time limit for each use like 5 minutes so you wont be invincible. Otherwise everyone would do that, and i dont see my lvl 40 RDM friend do that every so often as converting can equal death if the party doesnt heal him.

RDMs dont have status spells to help themselves if they are poisoned or blinded or anything of that sort, cannot fix that status. Also all area spells like Curaga(heal everyone around u in party) and Protectra(casts protect in party around you) as the WHM does. Therefore teh WHM is very helpful with these situations and in the end the RDM's power lies in magic and you will be mostly a support healer than much anything else. ALTHOUGH your unique spells will guarantee that the party will have an easier time lvling with Refresh and stuff. Tho its expensve.

And their nuking powers and spell selections are limited as well. You get Raise at lvl 25 for whm but you u dont get it til lvl 34, just like how Water for BLM is lvl 6 and for you its 9, and by then the BLM get Aero with more power than Water. Also mages are expensive as you must always update ur spell liabrary where usually the money spent there would be spent on new armor for the meleers.

But dont underestimate teh RDM especially if its the main job, later on their skills matter, but generally a WHM is looked for more.

WHM/BLM is what i did and i love it, also being a Taru will make your life easier by ten times or more especially if ur White or Black Mage, cuz u dont need to rest every few minutes and can last a few tough battles with enough mp for one more skirmish.
