Character/Race Matchup

Well monk sub will give you more hp and you can use a few extra abilities. Its not bad but lets just say its better than the other way around for some XD.

For THF/MNK you will be using Sneak Attack for more damage, add it with Focus to increase accuracy, and Dodge to increase ur already insane evasion. Then use Boost so your first attk will do alot of damage, then strike him hard. Done right and you can be a powerhouse for the most part. Also you will be renkeing with other meleers(or me...i like to whack stuff and i occasionally whack stuff with my staff). Its a pretty solid combo IMO, any other beta testers i would value your opinion too.

WHM/BLM sounds good...and RDM is a good job...its really all up to you i like to discuss what jobs are good and all but ultimately, you should choose your job that fits your playing style the best.

playing style....... no warrior class that's good a dodging while still using a sword or the like?

so letme get this straight, paladin is a destined meatshield for the group, and dark knights has so low defence its not funny, not to mention their speed is bad as well.

so there isn't really a 'fun' melee job class out there somewhere. I mean, warriors are common judging how everyone's going for it. Monk's not really my thing so yea that's out..

hehe sorry for been picky, but like Rizzice said, i rather get my character job right the first time.

Eh you can try THF...fun is whatever you are good and can do best and enjoy most of. Fun is a very vague and subjective term so u might wanna clarify. Every class can be fun, but you just have to find the one that fits you best in parties.

I'm also doing a Taru Taru white mage, black mage combo. I'm just debating the order. Do I want to be mostly a black mage, with some respectable healing ability, or mostly a white mage, who can also deal modest damage. My experience from prior FF's is that lower level healing spells are more valuable on their own than lower level attack spells, so I'm leaning towards my final character being Black with a White sub. I dunno, really.

Hey all, got a question... I hear all this talk about WHM and RDM and PLD and WAR and so on... what do you all think about a Hume theif, then bard at 30? I'm liking the bard for group play and I think a theif would be a great start to the game... what do you guys think?

Group play is mandatory at lvl 10-12 and beyond, so dont think that would work else u have to spend lots of time lvling a right sub

THF would be good with NIN and maybe SAM for TP boosts, but wont work at all with BRD. Not to mention THFs are one of the toughest to lvl up since you dont do extremely lot of dmg before lvl 15's Sneak Attack and therefore wont be invited to many parties and have trouble with solo play. THFs are WICKED later on, but for early play its hard.

BRD/WHM is the only real way to play it the most effectively. You also have to move around alot choosing the right songs to sing and also recast them when the one or two minute effects of the song is up, not to mention support with heals, you are there to support, nothing else.

Yeah, just figured this one out. I didnt realize bards are strictly for support in FFXI. What would you reccomend starting as if i were to become a SAM or a DRG? those jobs sound very interesting. thx
