Another tedious HELP thread

I'm really sorry for this because I'm sure you get inundated with these kind of silly problems but... one more can't hurt.

I have a laptop and need the input patch to play FF7. I installed the patch and it seems to work until Clouds name screen (???) when I cannot select the name. None of the patched keys work and all I can do is type different names over and over again. Which may sound like a lot of fun but after a while it wears a little thin.

Can anyone help me? Has anyone encountered the problem before?

Hmm... no good. I don't have windows XP and I don't need the graphics card patch. I tried it anyway though... (because I'm desperate) to no avail. But thanks anyway.

YAY!!! I'm such an idiot. I pressed Esc on the name screen and the cursor moved to the menu at the side. Why didn't I just do that BEFORE?!!

ANYWAY... now the time has come to let this thread sink into obscurity.

Turn on your number pad.

I was round a friends house today, he has the PC version of FF7. Got to the part were Cid joins your party and I couldn't move over to select for the name. Turns out you have to use the arrows on the number pad and the enter key over there as well to select things.
