stupid question

I've learned several abilities through weapons and armor like Beast Killer, Antidote, and all that. I've equipped the abilities with magic stones...but they don't show up on the attack menu during battle. How do I use them? Do they act automatically?

The only things that have shown up are Minus Strike, Detect, Flee, Soul Blade (or whatever it was), Cure, and Vivi's spells.

Abilties like 'beast killer' and 'bright eyes' act automatically. For example, if you've learned and equipped 'Dragon Killer', you'll find that Freya does far more damage when she attacks a dragon.

Hope that clears it up, FFIX's ability system isn't always that clear.

You're right, that is a pretty stupid question. But I shouldn't be one to talk, since I had the same problem when I started out. Confused the hell out of me until I realized there was a difference between 'action' and 'support' abilities.
