I agree with all of that except for the game rivalries. I'd have to say that the FFVI and FFVII rivalry is the biggest/greatest rivalry.

Yeah fair enough about VI and VII. I think the similarities between VII and VIII make it a more obvious rivalry, but I agree the main arguements are between the first two.

probably a stupid idea, but what about tidus and jecht?

i thought what they had was something like a rivalry, even if it was mostly one-sided.

tidus wanted to impress his father who mostly ignored him, and angry when he left, hated his father for a thousand reasons.. so it gave tidus a reason to be the best he can be so he can finally confront his father who, just happens to be sin and prove himself. (change some words around, and it sounds like cloud vs. seph, hmm?)

yeah what i said is confusing.. would it make sense? but i certainly agree that seifer/squall is the ultimate rivalry between characters, FF7 vs. FF8.
