Default Is it just me, or...

Well, I've noticed that FFXII, which seems awsome, seems to be taking the premise of Skies of Arcadia.

Vyse, the main character of SOA? Vann, of FFXII. Not a big deal, just should be brought up.

The world is set in a place where "Airships are important."

Different races are prejudiced against others.

And most of all, this one really stands out, Vann wants to become an.. Air Pirate.

    Just a coincidence?
I would rather eat a sword than play FFX-2

There's already a game out with the same basic characters, story, and quality. It's called Charlie's Angels.

that is exactly what i was thinking, Vaan dreams
of getting his own ship just like Vyse, also there
won't be a lot of romance which make me think
Vaan and Ashe will be like Vyse and Aida.

ooh, that one didn't hit me.

Vyse and Aika were 'just friends,' just like Vann and that one girl will probably be.

Maybe a subliminal referance, A la Metal Gear Solid? (With Snake Pilliskin)?

Am I crazy or did the EOFF main page say that one of the places in FFXII is called.....

    DUM DUM DUM (ominous music)

.....Arcadia. If I misread, please forgive me. If I am right that is a kawinkeedink. If irony was a bowl of soup and a bottle of 7up, I could cure SARS!

They are talking about the similarities between Skies of Arcadia and FFXII...well what similarities there are right now.

I bet that once you start playing the game everything will change big time. Too me it doesn't seem like Airships will be playing that big of a roll in all actuallity. It will probably be big but seems like there will be much much more on land stuff and what not. Thats just the impression I get from the majority of the pictures.

Arcadia is, in fact, a place in FFXII. From FFXII.org (http://www.ffxiionline.com/main.php?ffxii=prologue.html):

A warrior takes sword in hand,
Clasping a gem to his heart.
Engraving vanishing memories into the sword,
He places finely honed skills into the stone.
Spoken from the sword, handed down from the stone...
Now the story can be told...

That is the story of a world called Ivalice.

The strong military kingdom known as the Arcadia Empire
    That rules the Valentia Continent,
And the Rosalia Empire that rules the Ordalia Continent
Have been continuously at war for long years.

In the midst of it, Arcadia Empire invaded the small kingdom of Dalmasca,
Positioned in the hallway between the two continents and thus is geopolitically important.

Under the invasion of the Arcadia Empire, the Dalmasca Kingdom accepted defeat.
But Ashe, the rightful heir to the trone of Dalmasca,
Joined the resistance army movements to fight against the empire.

The enemy's chase and attack of this girl with the liberation of her mother nation in heart is severe,
But, she can not be defeated.
At this moment, she meets the young man Vaan.
With this meeting, begins the change in Ashe's heart.

    And thus...

The meeting of these two people will greatly change the story of this world.

As for the airships and pirates, those are very broad similarities. Pirates are common fantasy figures (and this is Final Fantasy), and airships have been common figures in the FF series.

    As for Ashe and Vann, as much as I hate the recent games' trend of making every main character couple be romantically involved, it looks like they're gonna have the hots for each other. -_-;

Hey, that's exactly the intro from Tactics there. Makes sense, since it's Ivalice and all.
