Problems emulating Chrono Cross

I'm using ePSXe 1.6.0 and I'm having trouble emulating Chrono Cross. It doesn't really matter what my computer specs are, as I've tried it on three computers. The intro movie on Disc I plays fine, and the main menu pops up fine, and it will let me start a new game just fine, but as soon as I select the vibration function for the new game, the screen goes black, and nothing loads up. Anyone know what's going on? I'm thinking its something in the CD - it's not the Greatest Hits version, if that matters and if there is a Greatest Hits version. (It's the PSX cd I'm using.)

Please help with any information or tips.

Have you tried it without the vibration function?

Have you tried different video drivers? If not, play around with them and see if changing the driver or setting within in the driver changes anything. I'd recommend looking for Pete's GPU plugins. (I don't have a link on hand, but I think Zophar's has a link to his site somewhere.)

Does it work in a PS1? That'd be a way to determine it, also.

The help file with 1.6.0 doesn't say anything about a common issue with this, so just try fiddling around a bit.

ePSXe 1.60 and Chrono Cross don't mix. Use ePSXe 1.40 or 1.52.
