    Default PLEASE HELP MEEEEE!!

I am playing FF7 for the first time through because I liked FF8 so much I thought FF7 would be way better. I was right. FF7 is much harder and more challenging than eight. Or maybe I just think that because I beat 8 6 times. But I'm having trouble getting a Gold Chocobo...can someone give me locations or advice?

    Sincerely,

    either,

Beat ruby weapon and get the desert rose i think its claaed, its desert something or other. Thats the hard one.

    OR

Breed a good yellow chocobo with a great yellow chocobo using a carob nut to get either a green or blue chocobo. Then breed a green with a blue using a carob nut (i think). Then with your newly born black chocobo breed with it a wonderful yellow chocobo using a zeio nut (obtainable by beating the goblins north east of kalm) and you have yourself a gold chocobo. always save before you breed 2 chocobos then you wont have to wait a few years before you can breed them again.

If this is your first time through, I do NOT reccommend the Ruby Weapon idea. Mainly because he is hard , and second becuase the chocobo you get from him sucks.

Does Ruby Weapon give you a Gold Chocobo? Where can I find him?

But first you have to go to the underground reactor and find one of those enimies that looks like a skeliton rowing in a boat. You use the move morph on him to make a book of some sort. You give that to the man before he will give you anything else.

Get a Good or Great Chocobo. Best place is near Mideel the southern most town on the world map. Use a Carob nut to breed them. You get Carob nuts from Red Dragons type things just south of Bone Village. May as well get 3 of them while your at it as thats how many you'll need in total.

Once you have a Green & Blue Chocobo breed them using another Carob nut and you'll get a Black Chocobo. Then you need a Wonderful Chocobo which you get from near Icicle. Breed the Wonderful Chocobo with the Black one using a Zeio nut and you'll have a Gold Chocobo. You can get the Zeio nuts from goblins on a little island to the right of the top continent.

You also need to win Chocobo races at the Gold Saucer with all the Chocobos you catch and breed.

It takes a long time to get a Gold Chocobo but it's worth it.

Morphing the ghost ship gets you the guide which you can trade for the underwater materia. You dont need the unerwater materia to fight ruby weapon but you will need the knghts of the round materia. And to get that you will need the gold chocobo, so theres really no point in trying to get a gold chocobo by beating ruby.
Unless anyone has beaten ruby without using KnoR? id be very interested to know your stratergies.

Ruby Weapon, one of the hardest enemies in the game of FFVII, can be affected by status elements. Hades works wonders on him and I also remember that Stop did too. I've never tried though, It's always been KOTR for me.

So...no on Ruby Weapon...but I have a Female Good and a Male Great...but when i use a carob nut, they don't make a blue one. I have tried this six times but still no blue chocobo, did I do something wrong?

OK, so scratch my last entry. The two chocobos made a green chocobo. So if I get a female great and a male good will it make a blue chocobo. By the way, do you have to be in third disc to get the Gold Chocobo? Because I am not that far in this file yet. But I still would like to get as far as I can right now.

You have to be on disc three to fight ruby but not to get a chocobo any other way. To fight ruby you also have to have beaten ultima(I think) the one that flies around and blasts random villages.

And to get a blue just do what you did to get a green, the outcome is random.

once you defeat Ultimate Weapon, Ruby Weapon appears in the desert area near the Gold Saucer. fly directly over the slightly moving red blotch to enter into a fight with Ruby Weapon, but don't say we didn't warn you. this can be done on DISC TWO OR DISC THREE.

and what he said about getting blues and greens. it's all random. save your game right before you mate your chocobos, and if you don't like the outcome of the breeding attempt, start over and try again. it's a great thing to do when trying to get your black chocobo to match the sex opposite of the Wonderful yellow that you should already have. always best to get a Wonderful yellow and then just try to breed a black that's the other sex.

Yes, you can get Gold Chocobo on Disc 2. I've got it and I have only done (SPOILER)two Huge Materia quests so far. What Numisma said about saving before going to Chocobo stables so that you can get the right Chocobo and gender is a good idea. You should do so.

Another thing you should remember is that certain Chocobo qualities appear with certain enemies. This speeds up Chocobo hunting a lot. For example, when you're trying to get a Wonderful Chocobo, go to the Chocobo tracks somewhere in the arctic region. As far as I know, you can find three different kinds of enemy groups in the Chocobo battles there: wolves, jumping rabbits and a combination of them. Fighting the wolves or a rabbit/wolf combination gives you nothing but a really bad quality Chocobo, so if you ever catch one like that, let it loose. This saves your time as you don't have to go back to the Chocobo stables to see which quality the Chocobo is. The Wonderful Chocobo, which you may want to get (Black Chocobo + Wonderful Chocobo = Gold Chocobo), is always accompanied by one or two jumping rabbits. Good luck, and have fun with the Chobobo breeding! xD
