Hmmm... this is a toughie. Either the main theme of FFIV, The Daryll's tomb, Epitaph melody from FFVI, Great Warrior theme from FFVII, or Liberi Fatali.

Edit: I got Great Warrior confused with Nanaki's theme

By far my favorite FF music is the Mt. Gagazet music in FFX, I think it's called People of the Far North. LOVE that piece, love it. The use of strings in that piece is astounding, almost romantic (the musical era). Wonderful.

The song is on a plane all it's own, but on the next plane down there are many that come in a semi-close second. Eternity ~Memories of Waves and Light~, Fithos Lusec Withos Vinosec (sp?), Eyes on Me, Kefka's Theme, 1000 Words, Aeris' Theme, Yuna's Ballad all come to mind. There are probably others as well.

Just don't play the FFX battle theme or you're gonna lose your head! Does someone else here too think that they should compose more than one basic battle theme per game?
