The ending theme for VIII is actually the Epilogue for FFII (I think, maybe
I, but I think it's II), it's also in a bunch of the others, I didn't know it was
in IX though. But I think you're probably thinking of "Welcome to the
Final Fantasy World." It's the opening to FFII I believe.

I think you're talking about the Final Fantasy Prologue which has been used ever since Final Fantasy I.
