I just got FFVII plus the strategy guide and I heard it's not that great. Could anybody tell me what the guide lacks, so I know what to look for on other walkthroughs? Thanks!

Well a better tip is not to waste your money on strategy guides, when www.gamefaqs.com has more than you'll ever need.
The official FFVII guide was made back when BradyGames still had no idea how to put a decent guide together, so it suffers from ugly page design, incomplete item and monster lists, and tons of spoilers in the pictures and text.
The unofficial guide published by Versus Books, however, is in fact the greatest strategy guide of all time.
Also, its full of typos, including the infamous piano combination for getting Tifa's "Final Heaven" misprinted.
I like Kung-Fu.
The Brady Games one is full of typos? Oh wait, I got the one for the PC by mistake back then. Heh. Didn't see typos in the PC one or the misprint of Final Heaven's Piano combo. *shrug*
Not sure about the one for the PS though.

The strategy guide sucks. I borrowed one from my friend and I don't use it at all. It doesn't describe near enough crap for me. Just go to a website for a faq.
This one is even deader.
