Questions about Ellone(Spoilers im sure)

I havent played Final Fantasy VIII in afew years,and I had almost completed it(At the final Battle) when we moved and my memory card was lost.Now Im playing back through the game and Im in disk 2.I have a question about Ellone though.

Im not marking my spoilers,because Im warning everyone here and I warned them on the thread title.

The Sorceress is after Ellone.Iv gotten that part.Ellone can show people the past(im pretty sure she was doing it to see how much Laguna loved her or something,i cant really remember).Seeds(from the future??) are guarding her.Does this mean Ellone is a Sorceress?

No, just someone wih a special gift, Ultimecia needs that gift to unite the three sorceresses or something, I don't fully remember. anyway, the White SeeD's were from the same time as Squall and co.

Ellone can't be a Sorceress. The Sorceress' mentioned in the game are (SPOILER)Adel, Edea, Rinoa, Ultimecia who I am going to call Sorceress' 1, 2, 3 and 4 repectively cause I'm lazy and can't be bothered doing spoilers.

(1) exists 17 years ago and is defeated and her power was sealed. (4) from the future is trying to reawaken (1) and take over her body in Squall's time. But (1) is pretty much unreachable to (4) so (4) takes over (2)'s body to release (1) from her prison. Squall and co. walk all over that plan by defeating (2.) A very pissed off (4) takes over (3) out of desperation and uses (3) to release (1.) (1) is released by (3) and (4) takes over her body and then (SPOILER)compress' time

It gets more confusing, because Squall then travels to (4)'s time at the end of the game to defeat her. He does and (4) goes back in time to take over (2.) This is AFTER (4) is defeated but chronologically it's BEFORE any of the incidents of Final Fantasy 8 even happened.

My point was, Ellone never received powers from anyone. And if she did, the game would be much more confusing than it already is.

True - Ellone's power is not only NOT the result of her being a sorceress, but goes BEYOND anything a sorceress can do. Case in point - Ultimecia was looking for Ellone because she needed her power to travel into the past. She wouldn't need Ellone if this was something that could be accomplished by her sorceress powers alone. The fact that Ultimecia was able to travel to Squall's time to inhabit the bodies of Edea and Rinoa was because she was using a machine in the future developed by Dr. Odine which artifically replicated Ellone's powers. It was called "Junction Machine Ellone," and was developed after Odine held Ellone captive as a child and studied her abilities. The machine, however, had limits, and forced Ultimecia to find the real Ellone in order to go further back in time and complete her devious plans - whatever those were.

Does anyone else think that this is all very confusing? It's hard to get past the spoilers Al Bhed put up. Who the hell is 1? And 2? And 3 and 4?

Dr Odine studied Ellone's power, and eventually his research led to the device that allowed Ultimecia to send her own mind into the past, to possess a previous sorceress. Ultimecia's time compression magic is only effective if it's used at two different points in time, but those points have to be a long way apart. Ultimecia's machine doesn't have the strength or 'range' to send her mind back far enough - she can go back to Squall's time, but not before. That's why she was looking got Ellone. The plan is this: Ultimecia goes back as far as she can, and finds Ellone. Ellone then sends her mind back even earlier, allowing her to use the time compression magic.

but i have something to tell, i think that Rinoa has something special with ultimesia (relation), is not posible that the secret os Squall have been revelatet (i refer to his ring ang Gryphus) why Ultimesia knows about it if the only who know was Rinoa?????' there something

You're right Evoc. I want to let everyone know right now there are a ton of spoilers in here.


Rinoa and Ultimecia actually have something special with each other. Rinoa is actually Ultimecia. If you watch the ending, there are parts where Ultimecia's picture and Rinoa's picture merge and become one, but they are really quick in doing it. That's why Ultimecia knows about Griever. I think the reason why Rinoa became Ultimecia is because she was really really angry because she still lived and all of her friends died. If you think about it, Edea never aged when she was a sorceress. So, if nobody defeats Rinoa, Rinoa still lives, and never ages. So she became real angry and had so much hatred because Squall wasnt' there anymore nor any of her other friends. At least that's what I think.

This thread has been doing nothing for a month... usually, when a thread's that old, it's allowed to slip away peacefully.

Anyway... take a look at the FFVIII forum - R=U threads are just fine, as long as people don't get bickerish or hostile, and as long as there aren't umpteen threads on the same topic.

These forums aren't for "arguing", since that's childish and petty. Rather, EoFF is here to promote intelligent, informed debate and discussion. Quite different
