FFVIII isn't the best FF game there is. Yet it is a very good game, I liked it a lot (especially Zell)

And FFX-2 isnt the best FF either. But you can get around it with all the girlyness and whatnot. It is a fun game to play..kinda.

Yet it depends what other FF games you have plyed in your past expereince. Like if you played FF 5&6 those are probably the best FF's I can think of.

It just all depends...ya know?
