Any real strategy to devouring monsters? I've tried putting them to sleep, reducing their HP to very low levels, even using the Lvl-Down ability, but they still take forever to devour. Thanks.

hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm well Your pc is probably pretty fast and highly advanced. if it is then, 8 being and old game will do that on a very fast pc. so it's probably coz your pc's advanced. mine is highly advanced and it also does that with my pc version, and my bro told me it's coz our pc is highly advanced so that could be the prob.
however if it's not and you no it's not that, then I dunno how to help. I'm not a wizz when it comes to technical things so soz if it's not that!

My PC is nearly brand new, and FF8 runs normal.
Same here. All of my computers run it fine. Assbags (My favorite cpu) is quite possibly the best computer out there since I made it myself, and it runs perfectly, no load times (not there were many to begin with), and the scrolling and graphics are crystal clear.
What video card do you have? Looks awful on my GeForce 4...

im tryin to find the queen of cards on disc four so i can get those five cards i was too lazy to get earlier. i must have searched for over an hour .. and i havent found her. im searching in the abadon plains .. the peninsula farthest south of esthar. are there requirements ? like would i have had to talked to the queen of cards in any of the previous discs (ive never initiated a conversation with her) and did i have to visit piet's crash site in disc 3 ? thx
if youve never talked to her before shes still by the trainstation in balamb. Play her there and you have to give her a card and she'll take it to dollett first I believe. go there and lose another card to her, and the painter will have a new one for you, and a certain person will have the card you lost (for example, you lose ifrit to carroway for rinoa, then get ifrit back from tha old headmaster of galbadia garden in FH)
I think theres a trick to get her to keep going back between dollet and balamb, but I cant remember it. I think you just reset and retry if shes not in one of them and eventually shell go to one. Also FYI, if you ever want all rules erased go to balamb and play the man by the docks and all the card rules will be erased.
Oh and if you'r playing the queen of cards I think if you don't like the rule set she gives, cancel when you come to the play/cancel screen and ask her to play again. or with her and most anyone if they say lets play with "xxx's" rules just say no and keep asking them to play and eventually they'll say something like "want to play a game?" and they'll play with the rules you have

not on disc four she is not darryn one you must have completed the CC quest in garden for her to appear and dude it seriously sucks playing her on disc four as she chooses the rules from any in the world which means you can play all of the rules do it in the game on the way through and if you look hard enough theres hints on how to abolish all rules except open in every region. Oh and her location is the pod from the lunar base crash site you have to enter the location again

yep i completed the cc quests .. and my proof is that theyre occupying the ragnarok on disc four. i still cant find her though .. =/ is there a very specific area of abadon plains where i can have more hope finding her ?
and Daryn i did mean on disc four thanks though
as far as I remember just look for where the lunar pod smacked the ground it should be visible from the air but I can't pin point it further
Would you happen to know who the names of Squall's Mother and Father were? I can not remember because I never saw them mentioned in the game.... it would be a real help to know this...
