Problem with sound on my comp...

I don't have any sound on my computer. It worked fine and then just quit all of a sudden. I went through the entire windows trouble shooter trying what they said, and I even downloaded the best driver and installed it and it still won't work. It appears to play, but I don't hear anything. I recieve no error messages, my speakrs are on, and everything is connected right. I don't know what is wrong with it, can anyone help me?

Check in Control Panel > Sound and audio devices that:
1) the sound isn't muted
2) the speaker volume is not set to 0

Yes, checked, that was the first thing. Any other ideas? Anyone?

Try plugging in the speakers in some other electronics to check they're not broken and do make sound as they should, e.g. TV, hi-fi, CD player and so on.

And make sure the sound is up in the media player too, not just Windows' Volume Control
