Go to Chrono Compendium and look up for all the differences between what the japanese meant and the NA translators ended up mistranslating. I hope what I just said has put an end to the "secret side quest" doubt.![]()
My problem with it being Zeal is that, once you defeat Zeal in the Black Omen, he quits giving any of the side-quest descriptions, IIRC. Even if you complete the Black Omen first, I'm fairly sure you just get the Zeal talk and then nothing else from him for the rest of the game. So I've always had a very slight suspicion about it not being Zeal.
