It must have been like that for a while, since it was 500,000 bytes when I checked before we moved, and then I changed it to 524,288 bytes before the redirect to accomodate a proper 500 KiB using binary prefixes. Maybe it was 1 MiB before, but I don't remember

1MB per attachment would be too much. I mean, realistically speaking, 500KB is pretty big. We wouldn't be able to back up the database if it got a lot bigger (or at least not the attachments). 100 attachments = 50MB. The whole database is around 700MB, I think, so if it was 1MB per attachment this place probably wouldn't even be here.

The database is 486 MB since the prune, and could probably be another 50 MB smaller if I rebuilt the search table to accomodate the prune too. Besides, it's also much easier to backup and download the thing on this new server than previously

I remember that it used to be 1MB as well, although I don't know when I last checked. Sounds like a conspiracy.

It was actually one meg. But I lowered it (for now) to make sure our bandwith runs okay.
