    Default Some questions about ff8

i love ff8,but i have some puzzles that i can't solve all by myself,i hope someone can help me:

(in fact,i finished this game about 3 or 4 years ago,so i have to recall my memories hard, and i hope i won't say sth. wrong)

1 i remember i encountered a very huge cactus on an island, and then i started fighting it.but its HP seemed so high that no matter how hard i tried (i fought it with the most powerful and effective attack, costing its HP more than 9999 each round, and the battle lasted for about 1 hour),how long i fought,i ended up with an game over.is this big cactus unbeatable!?

2 in the last stage, there is an hanging bridge, and i found sth. like a fishbone lying on the edge of it.when i got on the bridge, the fishbone fell down.after playing a piano correctly,i was able to open a gate near a river.i passed through the gate, and found the shining fishbone that droped from the bridge lying on the river bank, but i couldn't pick it up.does anyone know how to get that fishbone and what exactly it is used for?

    Thumbs up

Ok mvgt the thing about that big cataur.
    1. It's a GF
    2. yes it's very hard to beat
    3. no it's definately not invicable
    4. once you've suceeded in beating it once, guess what DON'T think that you've won and that the battle over and that you have a GF, oh no you have to face it again, coz it runs away after you've first beat it and then if you want the Gf you'll have to find it again, once you have beaten it the first time guess what, you have to beat it 6 more times! then and only then can you relax and say that you beat it and also that you have another GF. is that ok for you?

I'm not to sure on the fish bone thing, sorry, coz in the last stage you have to fight monsters to get your abilities back right, well I got as far as that, I got some of my abilities back (you only really need, the ability to: have Item, Draw, Magic, Limit breaks, save I'm sure theres one more, can't think of it) any how once I did that I didn't have a clue as what to do, as at this point I didn't have my Guid book to help me get through the castle, so I asked my kind brother to get me to her main room and he did and I didn't watch so I'm affraid I can't help you with the fishbone thing, sorry.

lonely, I don't agree with your statement about having to beat Jumbo Cactuar six times, as when I fought him I always defeated him and therefore acquired him on the first encounter. A possible reason he ran away from you is because you didn't damage him enough when he was hesitating, or you left him alone for too long. A good method to beating him is to have Recover and Revive on separate characters, and have everyone with the Magic option. Have Squall Draw and Cast Meltdown on him, then have someone cast Aura on Squall. Use Renzokuken coupled with Leviathan (Jumbo Cactuar's weak against Water, so junction this to your Elem-Atk), and have the other two characters attacking and curing as appropriate. When he does 10,000 Needles use either Revive or Full-Life, and always make sure you have at least two people alive at all times, as he can perform 10,000 Needles twice in a row, followed by another attack. After depleting his HP once he will be available as a GF.

thanks.the replies really give me some tips,i will try it again.
and u 2 remind me something.when i was in the battle,i used some magic that can make the enemy become asleep and lose its ability to attack.then i attack it fiercely with limit breaks and all kinds of magics, especially those of water.whenever it waked up,i would try to do the same thing again.yes,it did run away several times, maybe about 3 or 4 times.but after that,it became a one that would never escape!i have to fought it until its HP ran out.but its HP is incredible,as i said before,i played with it for about 1 hour, using all approaches i can imagine, consuming neally all items that could do harm to it,and the screen displayed clearly that it lost its HP sharply, but gust what?all that damage i did just seemed to be a piece of cake to it! no others could withstand such kinds of attack, neigther could the Omega Weapon, which i got really tired to fought it but finally i was able to kick its .

and about the fishbone....sorry,i m not quite sure whether it was really a fishbone or a key.but it's something shining that lay on a wooden hanging bridge over a river.when my team walked on,the bridge waved, and that thing was waved off down the bridge into the darkness below.it was so fun that i went to find it.then i went to the piano, finding that whenever i pressed a key,one of the steel bars of the gate that keep me away from reaching the river went down.so i pounded down all the keys on the piano at the same time, and the gate opened,so i was able to reach the river that the fishbone(or key or sth. shining) might have fallen into.well,i really saw that thing lying on the river bank!but i cannot pick it up cause something like a stone or so(i can't remember clearly) stood in my way.i just wondering how to get the key and what is it used for.

Look the fishbone is actually a key. If you are able before go back to where the key is still on the bidge. Then walk not run on the bridge to get it. I forgot what it did. Sorry. If you have alredy droped it. it is in the cellar. By painting room. I think first you have to close the floodgate
