Thread: FF7 riddles

The twist must be there are 5 kinds of materia, so each line is about a materia. That's the only kinda twist I can come up with, unless the plums are the little purple dudes in the Temple of the Ancients.

But it's weird how the actions seem to be messed up. Let me just look at action.

stood alone and did it's work--independent
    aid of the gods--summon
    healed the earth--support
told the others what to do--command

Okay, I get it. What does command mean? "tell others what to do." That's the twist! I've got it!

    What's left, now? Hmm.

Magic! Now, I just need an expression. The blood
    1) called on supernatural powers
    2) pulled a rabbit out of its hat
    3) disappeared
    4) cast a spell
    5) split the planet in half
    6) said, "I will now cut Cloud in half!"
    7) did something that means magic

The sun (Yellow) is command Materia.
The grass (Green) is magic Materia.
The sea (Blue) is support Materia.
The plums (Purple) is independant Materia.
The blood (Red) is summon Materia.

Pretty easy, if you look at it that way.

So what the blood did was summon... Still, if that's wrong, I guess we'll have to think of something else...

The sun stood alone, and did it's work.
It looked down at the world, the grass was calling for the aid of the gods.
The sea was cold, yet hot at once, it healed the earth.
Surprisingly, the plums rose up and led the way, they told the others what to do.

Looking at the way suggested in the above post, I would say that:

The sun is independent (stood alone).
The grass is summon (calling on the aid of the gods).
The sea is magic (magic is where most of the healing is).
The plums are support (instructing/affecting the others-support materia).

So the blood is Command Materia, right?

My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

    What did the blood do?

    We have a winner!!!.....Kinda....

The nouns were in facts clues/ distractions as to the solution. They do represent colours of materia, but are not connected to the materia they represent. The idea is to realise you have all five colours, and so come up with the missing action.

stood alone, and did it's work. (Independent)
calling for the aid of the gods. (Summon)
cold, yet hot at once, it healed the earth (Ice, Fire, Cure, and Quake, this is Magic, admittedly slightly less clear than the others)
they told the others what to do. (Command)

And so the blood did whatever you think would represent Support materia .

Weimar pretty much got the full answer so the riddle (FINALLY!!!) goes to him, well done .

I say what I think. If you disagree, then that is up to you.

hmm, that explains the hot and cold bit. Everyone was stuck on that.

Yep, that was very well written, although I think the 3rd line didn't fit the rest of the riddle. The other three were phrases that meant what the materia was called, but you did something different for magic. I don't know if that was intentional to make it hard, or you couldn't think of something better. So, I was like, " 'healing the earth' sort of means support, so..."

I just did the last one, so I pass. College is getting a little stressful right now with studying and a research paper, so right now I only feel like solving riddles but not writing them.

Hal, do you want to go? I couldn't have done it w/o you bringing up independent materia.

Yeah I can't remember why I wrote the third line differently, I know I thought about it, because I knew it left out so many magics. I wanted to be not too obvious, that's why the nouns were there as a semi-clue and semi-distraction.

Yeah next riddle should go to Halenite, even though technically mine wasn't part of the main thread.

I still disagree with the last bit. You riddle states that the plums "take the lead, telling the others what to do". The only Materia that affects other Materia is support, not command. Poorly worded, in my opinion.

Yeah, that got you, didn't it, skyblade. Only the 3rd one was poorly worded, b/c the rest of them had a common system. He took the definition of the types of materia, then had something with a different color do each definition. "Independent" means standing alone and doing its work. He didn't intend it to be what the materia does. The word "summon" itself means calling for something, like aid. "Telling the others what to do" means the word "command." That wasn't poorly written; you just got thrown off and wanted to think about the materia and not what their called.

*Nods*, yeah thanks Weimar, that pretty much sums it up. I really wish I could remember the thinking behind the third line, I'm sure there was some :P.

EDIT: Actually looking at it I may have been referring to actions, which would then explain the first three lines and not the last one as Skyblade said. Actually maybe you could read the last line in the same way.... Oh well, it's done now .

I say what I think. If you disagree, then that is up to you.

Telling the others what to do is what threw me. The only "others" we referred to were other materia. And the only materia that affects other materia is support materia.

Yeah, that threw me off, too, until he said that there is no connection between the blood and the plums. So, even if he said "the" (I can imagine him laboring over that), don't apply a link to the other lines.

Also, I think Mega-All is an independent materia, yet it also affects other materia. There goes your logic.

*Shrug* Mega-All differs from support materia in two ways, one of which is very important. The first is that it affects all your materia (which doesn't really matter for the purposes of this discussion). The second is that unlike support materia, Mega-All is useful by itself (it changes your attack to Slash-All). Support materia is only useful when combined with other materia. Oh, and I was not connecting plums to blood (everything else, perhaps, yes, but not the blood, since it wasn't in the riddle yet). I was simply pointing out that the line states that "Surprisingly, the plums rose up and led the way, they told the others what to do". Look at this. "Surprisingly" could refer to the fact that Support materia is useless by itself, so it is hardly the top choice for what "led the way". "Told the others what to do" is also pointing to Support materia. The others are the sun, grass, and sea. What is the only materia (besides a single independant one called Mega-All, if that will make you happy) that "tells the others (other materia) what to do"? Support. Command materia just supplies new battle commands. It doesn't really tell anything what to do.

    No. It's Halenite's turn, though...

You missed it, Red! I solved that really hard riddle about the plums and the blood! The answer was the blood did anything that meant support.

Okay, Hal, where are ya, dude? Say the next riddle, Hal. . . . Hal? Okay, maybe you didn't get that joke. But seriously, it's your turn. I hope your subscription to this thread didn't cancel or whatever.

Sorry, didn't get a chance to get online yesterday (I only have access at the Library and School)
    Anyway.
    From the table
    in King Arthur's Court
    We will destroy
    the one of the fort.

Last two lines make no sense, but I like rhyming things. The first two lines should give it away though.
