My guess is its a monster in the Northern Crater, since that's all that really fits in with your hint without including the ending sequence. It doesn't fit with the whole generation thing. I'll guess Polan Solita (sp)? The enemy that does Angel Whisper.
I say Nanaki's kids, because you see them surrounded by stone at the end of the game, and you never know anything about them. (?)
