I know this is nowhere near the right answer but I keep thinking it and it won't go away until I post it. I keep thinking of when Cloud falls from the no.5 reactor.
Hmmm this may be a tad abstract, but I'll run with my Mount Nibel idea, and guess at the scene where Sephiroth takes Jenova from the reactor.
Hold still and listen. (At this point Seph believes Jenova is his mother, this is a very parenty line)

Yeah - a tad too abstract. Good thinking though - this is more along the lines of imagined conversation rather than actual conversation. Although no one is really close at all to anything yet, the system that will lead you there seems to be present.
Try the other thought. See where it leads you.
