I can get something from each line but I don't know how to put it together, maybe somebody else can get it from this.

You help a young girl who has just lost her breathe.(I'm thinking when you stop to help Jessie, I guess that would fit best)
Perhaps the last part means words or letters. The first letter of the first word, then second letter of second word, or first word of first line, and so on. But it doesn't seem to fit.

A thought I'd try taking the first word of the first line, then second of the second line and so on... but that didn't make sense (it gave: carried from in town and who).
I notice that the events aren't in chronological order, so I rearrange them:
Bring down a reactor and get out in time, (first attack on Mako reactor in Midgar)
Fall from a bridge and land like from God, (falling into Aeris' church)
Burn out of town on two wheels and three, (leaving Midgar on motorbike and truck, big flame thing)
Carried past a serpent on much faster feet, (catch a chocobo to escape Midgar Zolom)
You help a young girl who has just lost her breathe. (rescue the girl in Junon)
A fight in the depths of a ship as it sails (fight Jenove Birth on ship)
I tried the 'first word of the first line, then second of the second line and so on' thing again... but it still didn't make sense (bring from of serpent girl ship).
But then I thought 'no, he couldn't mean letters - he wouldn't be THAT devious'.
I tried it anyway:

Carried...
You help...
A fight...
...Barret?

Just to point out the reason I put them not in chronological order was because otherwise there wouldn't be any FF knowledge required to get the answer. Just in case anyone thought I was being cruel :P.

Dunno how obvious this is... I'm better at solving them then thinking of them.
The first line reminds me of Ultima weapon... But I don't know what isn't free about it, unless you're talking about the price being that it gets weaker if you do....
Where as the second half of the riddle reminds me of Sephiroth clones and RedXIII. You know him to be #13, but it's #1 i.e Sephiroth that you're after.... I hope one of those is right...
