    Default best battle themes

because breine's thread didn't cut it for me since it includes nothing about battle music. the tracks you list can be from any video game, really; i choose all square games for mine though, mostly because i haven't played enough games by any other company to know non-square battle music that well. i'll probably end up listing some suikoden tracks by the time i complete the series though.

    the oracle (secret of mana)
    high-tension wire (seiken densetsu 3)
the sacrifice, part iii (seiken densetsu 3)
people seized with life (chrono cross)
the last battle (final fantasy iv)
battle with gilgamesh (final fantasy v)
the decisive battle (final fantasy vi - boss)
the fierce battle (final fantasy vi - atma weapon)
    dancing mad (final fantasy vi)
    j-e-n-o-v-a (final fantasy vii)
one winged angel (final fantasy vii)
the sword of doubt (final fantasy ix)
    dark messenger (final fantasy ix)

    list yours now.

The Decisive Battle (Final Fantasy VI - Boss)

And whatever the main battle music from FFVII was called. Dancing Mad was good too.

What's up with The Man saying "People Seized with Life" and FEOK saying Edward's theme and Bard singing? Those are good songs, yeah, I certainly agree, but battle songs? PSwL is a pretty dark and sad theme, not an aggressive battle song that would get me pumped up in battles, and the same for Edward's harp song. If every song that played in battles were counted for, I might as well say Aeris' Theme because it plays (FF7 SPOILERS)during the battle against Jenova*Life and you're still sad because of Aeris' death. I really love Aeris' Theme, but it still isn't a battle theme, IMHO.

Now, for my favorites. Not in any particular order.

    - Boss Battle A (FF1 WSC and PSX versions, Fiend battles)
    - Last Battle (FF1 WSC and PSX)
    - Battle Scene A (FF2 PSX version, some of the harder boss fights)
    - Battle Scene 2 (FF2, I think this plays during harder boss fights in NES and during the final battle in PSX)
    - This is the Last Battle! (FF3j)
    - Dreadful Fight (FF4, this one's awesome!)
    - Battle with Gilgamesh (FF5, this one's even more awesome!)
    - Decisive Battle (FF5)
    - Save Them! (FF6)
    - The Fierce Battle (FF6)
    - Dancing Mad (FF6)
    - Fighting (FF7)
    - J-E-N-O-V-A (FF7)
    - Weapon Raid (FF7)
    - One-Winged Angel (FF7 and KH, my all-time favorite battle theme)
    - Don't Be Afraid (FF8)
    - Premonition (FF8, this one's great)
    - The Extreme (FF8)
    - Feel My Blade (FF9, if this counts as a battle theme)
    - Battle 2 (FF9 bosses)
    - The Sword of Doubt (FF9)
    - Ambush Attack (FF9)
    - Dark Messenger (FF9)
    - Enemy Attack (FFX)
    - Assault (FFX)
    - Seymour Battle (FFX)
    - Demise (FFX-2)
    - Night of Fate (KH)
    - Spooks of Halloween Town (KH)
    - Scherzo di Notte (KH)
    - Forze del Male (KH)
    - Fragments of Sorrow (KH)
    - Guardando nel Buio (KH)
    - Battle with Magus (CT)
    - World Revolution (CT)
    - Orphanage of Time (CC)
    - Dragon God (CC)
    - Fight against a Somewhat Stronger Monster (SM RPG)
    - Fight against Smithy (SM RPG)
    - Nuclear Fusion (SD3)
    - Rolling Cradle (SD3)
    - Sacrifice Part III (SD3)
    - The Destruction of Xizor's Palace / Sky Hook Battle (Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire)
    - Face the Enemy! (Red Alert)
    - Hell March (Red Alert)
    - There are other songs too, but I don't know their real names

That's all I can remember at the moment, folks.

"One-Winged Angel" is far and away the best final boss song ever

It's used almost entirely in battles, and it's a really good song. It's not a typical battle track, true, but it's never used in a typical battle either. It's used in the kinds of fights that you wouldn't really WANT to fight (i.e. Miguel or Dario), but because of the way things sort out, you have to fight them anyway.

As for FEOK's answers, I have no idea. You're supposed to list tracks from battles in this thread, and most of those weren't used in any battles ever, as far as I remember.

Anxious Heart was used in a battle at some point? I don't remember that, but if it was then I guess I'll have to add that too, even though, like "People Seized with Life," it's not your typical battle track.

I certainly don't remember Anxious Hearts being used in a battle, it is a wonderful piece of music though.

    Let's see here...

    CT: Magus' Battle
    Boss Battle 2
    World Revolution
    Last Battle

    SD3:
    Nuclear Fusion
    Three of Darkside
    Obsession
    Frenzy
    Faith Total Machine
    Black Soup
    High Tension Wire
The Sacrifice (all three parts, despite only 2 and 3 being played during battles, if I recall correctly).

    FFI:
    Normal battle music

    FFIV:
    Red Wings
    Fight 2
    Dancing Calobrena
Golbez's Theme (I remember it being played in a battle you can't control, but it still counts)
    The Final Battle

    FFV:
    Battle With Gilgamesh
    The Decisive Battle

    FFVI:
    The Decisive Battle
    Grand Finale #2
    The Fierce Battle

    FFVII:
    Still More Fighting
    Aeris' Theme
    J-E-N-O-V-A
    Jenova Absolute
    The Birth of a God

    FFVIII:
    Force Your Way
The Man With The Machine Gun
    Premonition
    Maybe I'm a Lion
    The Extreme

    FFIX:
    Battle 2
    Hunter's Chance
    The Sword of Doubt
    Protecting my Devotion
    Dark Messenger

    FFX:
Someday the Dream Will End (I'm not sure if this was played in a battle, for some reason I think it was)
    Seymour Battle
    Aeon Battle
    Braska's Final Aeon

    FFX-2:
    YRP Battle Theme 1

    Lunar:
    Stand and Fight
    Go Go Go!
Fighters (I think this is played during a battle)
Magical Weapon Nash (ditto above bracket)

(I used the SPC/PSF archives for the track names, so blame them if they're incorrect)
