Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. Great graphics for its day (and the limitations of the Genesis), refined gameplay, tons of bosses, enormous and ingeniously designed levels (each character can use his unique abilities to find different routes through many stages), and an extremely satsifying finale make for a legendary game. The music was catchy, too; love that pumpin' Doomsday theme.

Its has to be adding Sonic 3 onto the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge. Nothing will ever beat it, not if Sonic Heroes is anything to go by...
If i dont get some soon, Its going to pack up its balls and leave...

Sonic Two for Mega Drive/Genesis is still awesome. Sonic and Knuckles is the best, with the whole backwards compatible feature.

Sonic Three for Master system is good in that you can sonic spin, and you can play as Tails. Sonic Two, on the other hand, drove me mad as I couldn't get all of the emeralds and there was some nonsense about hidden levels with a Silver Sonic and you could free Tails blah blah blah.

Therefore, for Megadrive I recommend Sonic Two, but for Master System/Game Gear I recommend the original Sonic the Hedgehog in all its glory.

    Thank you.

Sonic & Knuckles is my favorite. It's fun playing as Knuckles.

Old???? Sonic CD was a relatively new game. I just couldn't be bothered to get a CD add on. Or the 32x. Just seemed a waste o' money. Oh and was sonic ever on the master system. My memory is blurred :rolleyes2 .

I played Sonic CD in its day, and it's still probably my third favorite game after StH3&K and StH2. I loved the cutscenes, the time-travel element, and all the hidden scenes and features that could be unlocked. Really wish they'd rerelease it, especially now that I've lost track of my Sega CD.

There were three Sonic games for the Master System: Sonic the Hedgehog, StH2, and Sonic & Tails (a.k.a. Sonic Chaos). They were all eventually ported to the Game Gear; Sonic & Tails 2 (a.k.a. Sonic Triple Trouble) was the only game specifically made for the Game Gear.

I had one called sonic spin for game gear. well something like that, It had sonic on a spinny platform with a drill inderneath it. And I havn't seen that anywhere else. That reminds me. I gotta find my game gear again.

Sonic Spinball was originally made for the Genesis, and a Game Gear version shortly followed. The GG also hosted Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Labyrinth, and I believe--through some great injustice--a version of Sonic Blast (a.k.a. Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island). But really, nobody cares.

Pfft, people haven't played it as much because it wasn't as accessible. More people have voted Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as their favourite, and that game's certainly older than Sonic CD.

By the way, Joel. There was a Metal Sonic enemy in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as well as Sonic & Knuckles.

Sonic CD's Metal Sonic is completely different from the mechanical Sonic seen in StH2 and S&K, primarily in that he has something of a personality. He's a character in his own right rather than just another boss contraption.

Also true, but the S&K one beat both the Sonic CD and StH2 Metal Sonics in appearance.
